I began trying all types of diets, 30-day challenges and exercise programs. At first, I seemed to be doing well. I lost weight, got toned and felt good about my appearance. People would compliment me on my looks. But after a couple of years of marathon training, chronic stress, inadequately dealing with my grief, and figuring out who I was as a single (and single parent), I hit rock bottom with my health… despite a healthy and nourishing diet.
No one would know it to look at me, but on the inside my body was breaking down. I developed leaky gut, extreme bloating and digestive issues, insomnia, adrenal fatigue, depression, brain fog and unfocused thinking, emotional tidal waves and the smallest thing would cause my stress to go through the roof. I was embarrassed to eat out with others because eating was so painful that it was difficult to focus on conversation.
